Board Meeting
10-08-2018
Due to holidays and farm-related commitments the July meeting was postponed and the August meeting was curtailed.
Security
Following the theft of pumpkins on site and major break-ins at Windy Arbour, the board has discussed possible improvements to site security and has also sought advice from the local PCSOs who regularly patrol the site in the evenings.
General enquiry
The farm has been approached regarding the possibility of hosting a wedding reception in May 2019. The board is considering the proposal but is mindful that the farm is a community project and the primary function of the café and shop is likewise to serve the needs of the community as a whole rather than individuals.
Animal update
One of the rams has been sold to a farm in the Lakes and the aim is to reduce the flock further with a view to diversifying the animals at the farm instead.
Egg laying has decreased substantially and the board has agreed plans to improve the hen fencing to avoid escapes and fox attacks. There have been a number of incidences of members of the public entering the enclosures and the farm would like to remind visitors that this is only allowed under the direct supervision of a member of staff.
Cafe and shop update
The board and staff are continually working to improve the shop and café and have recently welcomed a new café manager – Mark Hampson – to the team to help achieve this.
